He was looking even scruffier than usual, with his hair standing up as if he'd been running his fingers through it a lot, wearing a shirt that was obviously very old. I hate him, she thought, turning away. He has to be so goddamn gorgeous, doesn't he? Devon stared at the bed instead, freezing in place as she took in the Tigger stuffed animal perched on his pillows.

"That's for you," Riley said quietly.

"I told you, I don't want anything from you!" Devon snapped.

She stomped over to the bed and grabbed the Tigger, ready to throw it at him. Before she could, though, she noticed that although it was well-stuffed, most of the fur was worn and faded, and the tail had obviously been sucked on numerous times. Devon whirled, clutching Tigger to her chest, and stared at Riley. He leaned against the door, watching her, a slight smile on his face and a spark in his brown eyes. She sat down heavily on the bed, not sure what to say or do.

"It's mostly his original fur," Riley told her. His voice was soft, but she could hear him perfectly. "We needed to find donors for a few spots, but the doctor said the surgery was highly successful."

"You fixed him?" Devon sounded dazed, even to herself. She really didn't know what to think.

"I shouldn't have offered to get you a new one," Riley said, making his way slowly to the bed. "It was obviously something precious to you. So, yes, I found a way to get him fixed." He sat down next to her. "I prefer it when we're friends, Devon. It's the only reason I even like being here."

"Thank you," Devon murmured, resting her cheek against Tigger's head.

What else could she say? It would be beyond bitchy to not accept what was the most meaningful and thoughtful apology she'd ever gotten in her life. And if she was being honest with herself, the whole thing was really Riley's fault. Okay, maybe a little, Devon thought, 'cause it's one of his entourage that's causing the problems. But she couldn't blame it all on him. Not when he did something so sweet.

Devon sighed and leaned against him. She didn't want to hold on to her anger anymore; it was getting tiresome. This time she just wanted to let it go and forget it had even happened. She pulled back and looked up at Riley, who was watching her with an odd combination off patience and urgency in his eyes. Smiling, she set Tigger down on her lap and shrugged out of her jacket. Devon saw Riley's eyes widen slightly, and she bit back a grin. I don't want to fall for a movie star, she thought. They're against my rules. I should tell him we shouldn't be more than friends.

"Want to watch T.V.?" she asked instead.
